Ron Cherney, President

Ron Cherney, President and owner of Message Centre Wireless, has been in the telecommunications business since 1983. Prior to entering the telecommunications field, Ron worked for External Affairs, Canada and was posted to London, England. Upon his return, he was an owner of a paging business and 2-way radio business and became a Telus dealer in 2000. He looks forward to continuing offering the most advanced services and products available in the wireless industry. Ron is committed to providing the best service available for your needs through Message Centre Wireless. His personal interests include watching sporting events, travelling, and fine wine and cuisine.

Deborah Ferris - Vice President, Legal & Administration

Deborah Ferris is a licensed attorney in the state of California and has been practicing law since receiving her law degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and her undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Kansas. Deborah joined Message Centre Wireless when she relocated to Canada in June 2011 to be with her husband, Ron Cherney, the owner and President of Message Centre Wireless. She handles the company’s administrative and legal needs as well as working with others on various projects, such as the company website. Deborah enjoys fine wine and cuisine, both at home and in restaurants. She and Ron enjoy traveling, particularly to wine country.

Paul Meahan - Vice President, Sales and Marketing

A graduate from Algonquin college in 1981, Paul started his career in Retail, managing two Wilson office supply stores for six years. Paul began his wireless career in 1987 with Motorola Canada, where he spent more than eight years developing a multitude of various Motorola sales and management initiatives. After working on his development in completely different areas in the Wireless industry for a couple years, Paul then took a position as sales manager, reporting to Ronald Cherney, owner of Ottawa Communications Centre. Since joining Ron’s team, Paul has been an integral part of our growth and has assisted in all aspects in the development of Message Centre Wireless as a prominent TELUS Business to Business Dealership. Paul considers himself a true family man, who dabbles in photography in his spare time.

Ralph Batten - Senior Account Executive

Ralph Batten brings 28 years of experience in the wireless industry, all with Message Centre Wireless. He started back in 1983 in the wide- area paging industry. Products and services have changed over the years but his primary market remains the same, which is the mobile work force. He truly believes the key to retaining and growing our business is the excellent level of service provided, before and after the sale, and the one- stop shop. This is what has made him successful over the last 28 years. As a Senior Account Manager, Ralph is responsible for identifying business opportunities and developing new business accounts within an assigned territory, including major Government of Ontario and SMB accounts. This also includes promoting and servicing TELUS Mobility products within the existing Message Centre Wireless customer base and developing new business in the wireless solutions market. Away from the office Ralph enjoys all sports and jogging in particular. Having coached competitive soccer for over 11 years in his community, he strives to promote the benefits of physical fitness to our youth.

Anne Christensen - Controller

Anne has been the Controller for message Centre Wireless since 2000. Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Anne moved to Ottawa in 1979 with her family. She has worked for several companies in the Ottawa area, and at one time owned her own accounting business. Anne joined the Message Centre Wireless team in March of 2000 and takes care of all our financial requirements. In her spare time she enjoys yoga, reading and spending time with her family.

Mel Maidment - Service Manager

Message Centre Wireless service manager, Mel Maidment has been working with Ron Cherney and his companies for over 22 years. In that time, Mel has become an invaluable team member, with a multitude of service responsibilities. Mel is a certified electronics technician from George Brown college. Mel services our clients in many capacities from account management, sales, cellular repair, email setup and support, in-building wireless signal amplification design and installation, as well as GPS system installation. Mel is originally from Newfoundland, is married with one son and is an avid outdoors-man.

Alison Stewart - Account Representative

It was while a 19 year old Alison was working in the mining industry is Nothern England that she decided she needed to look for adventure and came to Canada for "12 months". 31 years later and after enjoying a successful career in media advertising sales throughout the city of Ottawa, Alison welcomed the opportunity of joining the team at Message Centre Wireless. Committed to bringing same high quality service as previous clients have come to expect, Alison looks forward to working closely with both new and prospective customers in order to reach our mutual goal.

Away from the office, time spent with family and friends is of most importance, based on delicious home cooked meals in a home with an "Open door concept"

Ashley White - Admin. Assistant, Graphic Designer 

As a graduate from the Graphic Design program through Canadore College, Ashley White was first contacted by Message Centre Wireless to design and create monthly flyers to send to new and existing clients. Through her contacts, Ashley was given the opportunity to join the MCW team officially which she enthusiastically accepted in the spring of 2013. With her education in design and her years of customer service experience, she will continue to be our in-house graphic designer as well as taking on the roles of Admin. Assistant and customer service representative. 

Ashley loves to spend time outdoors with her dog and in her downtime prefers to practice her skills in drawing photo-realistic images in charcoal.
